Theo Priestly, over at BPM redux raises some interesting (if short sighted) points.  Visio 2010 and Sharepoint 2010 are providing a springboard platform for BPM vendors to capture interest from a very large and untapped market. There [are] around 4 million users of Visio who are 'process focused' according to research, that's a large user base to target.

Meanwhile, Gartner has published a new review of Microsoft's BPM strategy and our related partner BPMS products which make up the Microsoft Process Platform.  This is the first time Gartner has included Microsoft in one of their BPMS reviews and made several key observations about the strategy.

Is the information-technology function at your company focusing on the same priorities as the business? Based on a recent survey by The Corporate Executive Board's IT Leadership Exchange, the overwhelming answer to this question is—No.

Through a survey of 150 IT departments at mid-sized companies, the IT Leadership Exchange found that 90 percent of CIOs expect that the IT department will be misaligned with business needs in an economic recovery, and more than half feel that this will threaten the business's long-term competitiveness.

China uses the DNS system to enforce Internet censorship on its so-called Great Firewall of China, and the ISPs were using this incorrect DNS information.

She defines job crafting as a naturally occurring phenomenon in which employees treat their jobs as a collection of tasks that can be molded and reorganized to fit their individual strengths, passions, and motives better.

Employees craft their jobs whether managers want them to or not, and in most cases, job crafting results in a significantly more engaged employee. The down side is that disillusioned employees can craft their jobs to do as little as possible without getting fired. Another potential pitfall: Even if employees honestly want to craft their jobs for the benefit of their team and their organization, many don't know how to do it effectively.

Innovative Marketing Ukraine, or IMU, was at the center of a complex underground corporate empire with operations stretching from Eastern Europe to Bahrain; from India and Singapore to the United States. A researcher with anti-virus software maker McAfee Inc who spent months studying the company’s operations estimates that the business generated revenue of about $180 million in 2008, selling programs in at least two dozen countries.

"They turned compromised machines into cash," said the researcher. The company built its wealth pioneering scareware — programs that pretend to scan a computer for viruses, and then tell the user that their machine is infected. The goal is to persuade the victim to voluntarily hand over their credit card information, paying $50 to $80 to "clean" their PC.
