Scaffolding Around My Mind

This poem stands as a testament to the enduring journey of self-discovery and personal growth. The poet, with the skill of a seasoned architect, constructs a vivid metaphor of a mind encased in scaffolding, always under construction. The poem invites us to consider that our understanding of the world, our thoughts, feelings, and experiences, are continually evolving, shaped by the nails of pain and joy. It challenges us to envision a future where the scaffolding is removed, and our minds are free to soar, unencumbered by the limitations of the past, the fear of failure, or the pain of loss. This poem is a call to embrace the journey of self-discovery, to recognize that we are all works in progress, and to look forward to the day when we will be free.

Scaffolding around my mind,
A work in progress,
Always under construction.

Beams of thought and feeling,
Rigid and strong,
Holding up the structure.

Planks of memory and experience,
Laid one by one,
Creating the floor.

Nails of pain and joy,
Fastening everything together,
Keeping it all in place.

Scaffolding around my mind,
A work in progress,
Always repairing destruction.

But one day, the scaffolding may be gone,
And my mind may be free to soar.

It may be able to think and feel
Without the limitations of the past.

It may be able to create and dream
Without the fear of success.

It may be able have and hold
Without the emptiness.

And on that day, It may be free.
